The Showjumping Phase of Equestrian Eventing ...
The showjumping phase is traditionally the final phase in equestrian eventing, and is set up to test the athleticism of your event horse.
A good event horse should be be able to perform well even though it's completed a gruelling gallop across country.
- Showjumps in the eventing showjumping phase will normally be higher than in the cross country phase.
- The fences will require a greater degree of accuracy and far more discipline to complete the course of jumps successfully.
Similarly eventing showjumping requires different tactics in your approach to fences.
Turns, paces and strides need to be carefully worked out to ensure you gain the best approach possible.
At lower levels you will complete the showjumping round before the cross country round, and as you progress up the ranks you'll begin to tackle two and three day events where the order is changed and the showjumping becomes the final phase.

What to wear when competing in the show jumping phase of international eventing :
In show jumping you wear clothing similar to that of dressage.
- Your outfit is not complete without a protective riding helmet complete with a secure harness that complies with current safety standards.
- Riders should always wear a hunt coat, rather than a shadbelly and top hat.
- You can use a helmet cover, only if it is black or dark blue
- As in cross-country, riders should wear a medical armband.
